I had a crack at the Revell Type VIIc. I'm not a ship/boat builder so this was something completely new for me but it's been a really enjoyable project. Any comments, tips, pointers would be very welcome!
Thanks for looking
Andrew

Andrew WOW, Beautifull. My builds have always been built using the saying “less is more” but you have just proved that “More can be More.” Incredible. How did you do it Paint? Pastels? Oils? I LOVE IT

Thank you Malcolm, that's very kind.
I used a black base primer and went over with a red oxide primer then sealed it in. Then hairspray, and layers of colour to build up the coloured layers - greys on the hull sides and metal colours on the decks.
I then wet the areas I wanted to break up the paint to bring the red oxide colour through then sealed again, then it was layers of oils, pigments and oil pin washes.
Rigging is stretched sprue and the buckles are pva!
All tied together with a really good flat coat and voila.
Thanks for the comments though, really appreciate it.

It's true that the painting is extraordinary :o
The Atlantic really put the submarine through its paces...

And now, a diorama with a dry dock...?
And then a gold medal in Telford !

lovely job! another recruit to the SIG Yacht Club methinks. As a (mostly) aircraft modeller I find an excursion into submarines very refreshing and an excellent challenge. Revell is a good choice - I get the impression that their sub models are somebody's labour of love. They certainly garner lots of interest whenever we show them.

Nice one!

Thanks folks. Not sure I have the time for a dry dock diorama but it's a nice idea. Maybe one day in the future...

No need to build a diorama. All you need to do is add a crew paraded on deck and some officers on the bridge and the viewer will build the diorama in thier mind.
